Snuggles

Man, where did my warm weather go??  I was running in a tank top 2 days ago.  Won't be doing that today for sure.  But I have my own lap warmer.

Halloween is Almost Here

Have you decided on a costume yet? Butch is going as a biker dude. I told the husband he needs a spiked collar but he said no. Butch would hurt himself.  Husband is a party pooper. He needs a leather vest too.  Don't you think?

Vegas Baby!

Whoa!  Where have I been??  You still there??  (crickets) LOL

So we've been our usual busy around these parts.  The husband is still working for Dr Pepper.  He's been in the Austin area for the last year.  Just got another position recently.  Moving up the ladder.  I'm still with the feds.  Not the best of times right now but my agency is great, budgets well so I never went without a check.  Yay!  We moved into a larger studio for my photography early this year.  Still in our small town but on the main highway.  People don't seem to mind driving the 30 minutes to get there from the nearest bigger city.

Our cattle continue to do well.  We just got back from Vegas yesterday.  We had a yearling calf entered in the ABBI finals and a 3 year old.  Our yearling won us 3rd place!  Couldn't be more proud.  Our 3 year old came in 6th.  Not great but the competition was tough.  Long Shot II won it.  Of course, we no longer own him but he's still our breeding so we are happy with that.

When we arrived at the hotel to check in, they gave us our room keys.  They had Long Shot II on them.  Pretty cool to have the bull you raised on the room keys of the hotel.

The pens behind the hotel/casino where they house the bulls.

And we went out on the strip one night while we were there too.

Anyhow, I thought I should update anyone that actually continues to check this blog.  It's just too easy to post on Facebook I guess.  You people that don't have Facebook, and you know who you are, should really make at least a fake account to keep up with us.  ;)

Till next time, whenever that may be.....

Happy Valentine's Day

The husband actually surprised me today! I don't think he ever truly has in our 18 years together. I came home to find him there. He drove in from Austin, brought me flowers, chocolate covered strawberries and did ALL my chores! Best gift ever!

We enjoyed a quiet night with the kids. Butch was my cuddle bug. Ellie was enjoying popcorn with the husband. Hasn't she grown!!

The Article about Us

Well the article came out this evening on PBR's website.  Here is the link:

http://www.pbr.com/en/news/features/other-features/2013/2/abbi.aspx

We are also going to be in the ABBI Magazine in March!  Pretty exciting!  I had to send in some pictures for it today.  I think it will be pretty much the same as the article above, just a little longer.  Or at least, that 's what I've been told.

Other craziness today, got a call this afternoon that our yard gate was open and ALL the dogs were out.  Chasing our cattle and running amuck!  Neighbor could only get Diesel, Butch and Lucky caught.  Ellie Mae and Penelope wouldn't go back in the yard.  Took me a little over 2 hours to get home from Fort Hood to check on everything.  Luckily all the cattle were where they were suppose to be.  BUT Ellie and Penelope were not at the house.  I finally spotted Ellie at the very back of the place.  So glad she is bright white!!  I put my mud boots on because it's rained for 2 days and headed that way.  When they could finally hear me calling, they ran right to me.  Penelope was whining up a storm.  She was so relieved to see me.  They went straight to the yard.  Now there is a chain and clip around the gate!

Fielding Calls and Messages

The Husband and I always have the hardest time selling our bulls. Mainly because no one outside the immediate area really know who we are. We're just a small operation compared to the big time breeders. So we get frustrated when we have a great calf or young bull but can't get a buyer.

Well, about a week ago, i asked the husband if I should make a Facebook page for our bulls. At least that way, we would have a specific spot to showcase videos and pictures. He said why not so I set it up. Late yesterday, I uploaded some videos of our bull calves. HOLY SMOKES! We had about 100 new people like our page in a few hours! Then our phone and email started blowing up. People calling to inquire on their prices. The husband would be on one call and he'd have three messages waiting. I was answering emails and messages on Facebook. We finally had to stop and go to bed.

This morning I continued to answer emails. I text the husband at work and asked if he was still getting calls. He had been in meetings and he said his phone had been blowing up. With all that said, we haven't officially sold anything yet. But at least people are interested. I have to think that all of this will lead to some buying. Fingers crossed.

We were also interviewed yesterday for an article. I'll be sure to post it if it's any good.

Ellie Mae

I think I have been remiss in telling you about our newest member! Back on October 19th, I just happen to be off from my job getting ready for some photography sessions. I left the house to head to town and about a mile from the house, something white caught my eye out in a pasture. I drove past then realized it was a puppy. She was just sitting there. Of course, I stopped and backed up. When I got out, she started running away. But I yelled for her to stop. She did, looked at me, then ran straight to me. Poor girl was skin and bones. Very dehydrated. I took her straight to my local clinic and had the vet check her out. The first picture is when I found her.

She spent the weekend with me at the studio. She was so good. At home, she'd lay in her kennel. Never had an accident in the house. Just a really good girl. Second picture!

Now she's too large for her kennel! After two months, she has fit in great. And just this week, I had a client tell me she was a Dudley Lab. I had no idea what that was so I looked it up. Sure enough, she is. Her pink nose and light eyes are caused by recessive genes. Apparently Dudley Labs are rare and do not meet Lab standards. So we wonder if a breeder dumped her? If so, they missed out on a great dog with beautiful features.

It may also explain why she refuses to leave the yard and is terrified to be put in the truck. Guess she thinks I'm gonna leave her somewhere. Gotta work on that!

So welcome Ellie Mae to the Crazy M clan!

(Post written on IPad thus the pictures all at the bottom. Still figuring the app out! But maybe I'll post more now with it!)

World Finals Champion

What a week we had!!  Last Tuesday, while the husband was in Austin and me at home, we watched via the internet, our bull, Long Shot, win the long round of the Back Seat Buckers competition in Vegas.  We had to make the top 5 to advance to the world finals on Saturday.  We were so excited!

We flew to Vegas late Friday night.  Met with the new owners of Long Shot early Saturday.  Mr. Long and his wife are such great people.  They requested we sit with them at the PBR Finals that night.  The short go round for Long Shot was head after the 4th section during the PBR Finals.  Of course, their seats were in the third row!

We were so nervous leading up the the competition.  But it came and Long Shot was the last bull out.  He BLEW them out of the water!!  We WON the World Finals for the Back Seat Buckers!!  Mr. Long was presented with a check for $250,000 and a buckle.

Mr. Long then stated he was having one made for us as well.  We were so ecstatic.  The husband has always said he would never go to the PBR Finals unless he made it.  Well, we finally did and we left world champs!
