I Got Yelled At!

Why? Because of this...

Ummm, I was taking pictures of him welding. He told me that I knew better than to be looking at him welding. He said I should have been looking at this...

his feet or this..

my feet. But really, look at my feet, UGH! Can someone say pedicure please!!

But I did ensure Zena didn't look at the husband welding!

Calf Buckin' & Fort Worth, What Could Be Better?!

We had a great anniversary weekend. The husband had gathered some calves on Friday and brought them to the house to wean. There was lots of bawling goin' on! When we wean calves, we also buck them to see if they're gonna be keepers. So we started bright and early Saturday, loaded em up and headed to the arena.

This was the first bunch of the year. There were only six cause we had a lot of late calves. Of the six, three will stay and three will go. One lil heifer stood out above them all that morning. You may remember her, I had the "name that calf contest" on here for her.

Trainwreck will be so proud that the calf she named did so well!

After the calf buckin', we made our way back home. Just in time for lunch and a quick nap. I had made reservations for dinner in Fort Worth that night to celebrate our anniversary. We needed to leave the house between 3-3:30p in order to make it. I woke up from my "power" nap at 2:45p! I woke the husband up and told him we needed to get a move on. Still had to take showers and get ready! Luckily, it doesn't take me long and we were out the door by 3:15!

We ate at the Reata in Sundance Square. It was great! If you are ever in downtown Ft. Worth and want a nice dining experience, I highly recommend it. The waitress asked if we were celebrating anything and we told her our anniversary. When she brought out our desserts, they looked like this...

From Reata, we went a few blocks to Hyena's Comedy Club. The comedians were very good. There's nothing like a good laugh! We left the comedy club around 10ish and headed home.

Oh, there was one thing I found interesting at the comedy club. This sign...

Now, I have seen many a bull ball in my lifetime, but never a purple one!

Eleven Years Ago....

Eleven years ago today, the husband made the best decision of his life....

He wasn't too sure at the time. You know how hard it is to get a wild bullrider to marry a girl?! Took me three years to get it done, but he finally gave in! Well, I did get him to buy my engagement ring and propose while he was drugged up on pain medication but it was for his own good!

This morning we went out on a personal photo shoot by me. Here are our anniversary pics...

Love you honey!

Sparks A Flyin'!

My whip crackin' worked. Around dusk last evening, the husband went out to cut the pipe. Had to wait for the temp to go down some. I was the fire watcher. Stood at attention, with my water hose and bucket. I was ready but luckily, no fires. But the sparks were a flying. I made the husband cut a little longer than he wanted. I had to get some pictures. He finally told me it was too dark and he couldn't see his chalk lines. Well, I guess that's important.

He's Been Warned

So what gets the husband working late in the evening?

It would be this......

Told y'all I was gonna have to start crackin' the whip. I wasn't kiddin' around. You thought I was playin', huh!

Harley helps me supervise the construction. He kept his eye on the husband. Made sure he stayed on task.

Even when the husband started to whine, Harley doesn't back down. He barks orders to get with it!

This supervising stuff is hard work!

Progress...I'm Startin' to Question It

I called the husband this afternoon and he informed me that a friend had showed up at the house. They were going to take some old scrap metal to the recycling plant and fill his bottles for the cutting torch. Awesome, that means progress! When I got home, I saw the welder was out.

They moved it next to the fence line, ready to start that top rail once the line posts are saddled.

But then I saw this. And I realized there might not have been as much work going on today as initially believed. The husband said he only drove it to get the mail. Hmmm.......

So I fed them supper, and sent them back out to work. I kept an eye on them from the windows.

I didn't want to distract them from working so I even took pictures from the house. Didn't want to give them any reason to get off task!

I think I'm gonna have to start crackin' that whip!

Yard Fence in Progress

The yard fence is coming along nicely! Lucky for me, our nephew called and asked to come up this weekend. He is attending automotive school in Houston and wanted to visit. The husband told him he was working on the fence and the nephew offered to help. Silly boy! So that meant, I managed to get out of fence duty! Yippee!

They managed to get all the pipe set despite the extremely hot and humid weather. But they took water breaks frequently. Let's take a look...

What a pretty straight fence line! The husband had to fix a hole. He turned so y'all could see his good side. Yes, that was what he said!

The nephew pouring the quikrete mix. I think the husband had him hauling all the heavy stuff.

Gotta make sure everything is level.

You know what my favorite part of the entire fence building process is? The hot pink string line!

They did a great job.

Next up, the husband will saddle and cut the pipe for the top rail. Then the top rail will be welded in. Poor hubby, it's suppose to be well over 100 degrees this week!

Meet Bubba

Nope, Bubba is not a new puppy. Have to get that yard fence built before the Husband will let me get the puppy. Several have asked what kind of puppy I will get? I don't have any particular breed in mind. I just want another big lovable dog. I can't wait. Gonna have to get out there with the husband this weekend to set the pipe posts.

Anyway, back to Bubba. I found him on my desk when I returned to my office late yesterday afternoon.

I had just been talking to my co-worker about getting another beta. My last one, Willie, died around the end of last year. He suffered some blunt force trauma when I dropped him on the floor while cleaning his bowl. He was dead the next day. I had him for over 2 1/2 years.

So my co-worker was nice enough to have Bubba all set up and waiting in my office upon my return yesterday. Isn't he pretty?! Willie was the same color.

We started bonding today. People may wonder who I'm talking to when they walk by my office but I don't mind. Bubba's cool. Hopefully he'll last for several years. I'll be much more careful when cleaning his bowl.

How Long Can I Hold My Breath?

I met the husband at the end of our drive this evening. He was taking the tractor back to the neighbor as I was pulling in. He wanted to put the dogs in the back of the truck. I rolled down my window to talk to him and noticed a smell.

You remember the neighbor across the road...the one with the mountainous piles of chicken poo? How could you forget that right? Well, he was scattering the poo over his field, right across from our house. About the time I saw him, the husband yells "Roll up your window! Fast!!"

I bring the girls home and make my way out of the truck. I tightly squeeze my lips together and hold my breath as I run to the door. Just our luck the wind is blowing from the South. Guess which direction the field is?! Yep, to the south of us. Do you know what it's like to be bombarded by chicken poo dust? It's not pleasant.

So just for you, I went out on my front porch and took pictures of the chicken poo spreader and dust.

I think I'll go take a shower now...

I Got Me Some Holes!

This is the sight I came home to this evening. Harley supervising the Husband on the tractor. Everyone knows the Husband needs supervision! And what were these two up to with the tractor? Well, it involves me getting a new puppy!!

The Husband told me I couldn't have a new puppy until we got a yard fence. So I made him move that to the top of his honey do list. He's started drilling the holes. But it is so dry, the ground is like cement! He had to get the water hose out and soak the ground just to get the auger to work!

He's had some issues though. Why do you suppose these instruments are in this hole?

Well, he hit the underground electric line that runs to the barn. Uh oh!

But he got it fixed up. Then I looked out the dining room window to see him standing there next to the tractor, auger in hole detached from it. He broke the pin. I told him to just come in and deal with it tomorrow but he insisted on fixing it. Well, an hour later, he came in the house. He didn't get it fixed. He broke his hammer and hacksaw trying to get the broke pin out. Not a happy camper! Good thing I stopped on the way home and got him some ice cream. I had a feeling he might need some dairy delight to lift his spirits.
