Country Folk Go To Town

The husband and I went to a play last night. Actually, a musical.

A friend from work got a part in the Little Shop of Horrors at the local civic theatre. We couldn't pass up a chance to go root him on so the husband, another coworker and myself went to watch.

The husband said I didn't tell him it was a musical. He was a little skeptical. A little culture wasn't gonna hurt him.

The pictures aren't very good. I had to be covert. Photography was prohibited. Did they really think that was going to stop ME from taking pictures. Please! The husband said I'm an outlaw!

That's my friend, Joe, on the left with his hand puppet. Oh, I'm gonna give him all kinds of grief about that hand puppet!

They did a great job. We enjoyed it. Well, the husband described it as "different" but I'll take that as it was okay. The funniest moment came after the musical. As you leave, the actors are lined up for you to congratulate them and talk. The very first lady looked at the husband and said "Bet you would rather be huntin' then here, huh!" I busted out laughing. She had him pegged!

Come on Fall

It's still HOT here. Just ask Harley...

If there is a mud hole around, he'll find it.

The Playing Has Begun

Zena has decided that Diesel isn't so bad. She's always stand offish in the beginning with a new pup. She has to affirm her position as top dog before she can commence with the play. Yesterday, she must have decided he knew where he stood in the grand scheme of Crazy M pack and let loose.

The chase was on...

Zena lets him take her down ...

Then she runs him around the hay...

They have so much fun. Zena FINALLY ran some energy out of him. After they played and we went for a walk, he came back to the house all tuckered out. Of course, about two hours of rest, he was rarin' to go again. He recharges very quickly!

Helpin' Out Around the Ranch

Diesel thought he should help out with the chores today. He helped the husband feed Silk.

Tagged along while the husband fed some others.

Served as security while the husband fed Death Wish.

Over saw the burning of the trash. Safety first you know.

Properly disposed of old horns lying around.

And removed old cactus parts from the grounds. (no needles in our cactus, just fyi)

He's fittin' in real nice!

Sunday Stills-Rule of Thirds

I have been soooo bad about not participating in Sunday Stills. Just been busy with life I suppose. But I didn't want to miss again. So I took a short break from Diesel and grabbed a few archived pics to throw out there.

I'll be back to Diesel pics later today! Have a great day!

Introduction to the Tank

After lunch, we took the kids to the tank. They all like to play in the water. Diesel was going to get his first tank experience. I didn't know if he had gotten to play in water before he came to us. He has lots of energy and we thought it would be a good chance for him to burn some off.

He didn't know what to think about it at first. But it didn't take long for him to try it out. Guess he figured he would try out the front half.

Within seconds, he was bouncin' thru the water. He LOVED it. Next on the agenda, torment Zena...

And give Pepper some grief. I love the expression on her face! She is so done with the new pup.

Zena didn't look to happy with me either.

Then he decided to calm down and swim with Zena. He swam and swam. None of our dogs have ever swam as much as he did. I was worried he was gonna get tired and I'd have to go in after him, but he came in.

Then the smarty pants did figure eights between my legs wiping himself off!

On our way back to the house, the heifers and cows were up. It was the first time Diesel was in direct contact with the cattle. Trixie initiated him.

He went right up to her. She so kindly advised him that dogs are not welcomed in her pack. She rolled him with her nose/horn. I ran up and got between them and he was fine. Hopefully, he learned a quick lesson that cows are not his friend.

But all ended well when he found a dried cow patty to take home.

Ahh, life is good.

Diesel Has Arrived

Diesel arrived at our pickup spot around 4 this afternoon. The pup transporter was hauling cattle to different places and just so happen to be pickin' something up at a contractor's place we know. This was Diesel's ride.

He was so excited to be out of the crate they transported him in. Of course, I allow my kiddos to ride in style, on my lap.

He was scoping out the new scenery. I'm sure it's pretty different from PA.

He was pretty restless during the drive. I was a bad mom and didn't bring a chewy. After destroying a water bottle and moving on to my hand and arm, we decided to make a stop. Luckily, there is a Dollar Store in nearly every small town along the route home.

The husband ran inside and bought some chewies. He couldn't open them up fast enough according to Diesel.

Just what the lil boy needed. He got after those rawhides. Kept him busy for probably an hour and a half.

We finally made it home. Diesel and the husband were scoping out the bulls in the pasture. Our big bull in the barn was bellerin'. Diesel didn't know what the heck that was!

He was lookin' for someone to play with him. I guess he thought Tadpole was as good a playmate as anything else. He was very inquisitive. I'm thinking he's never been that close to a bull. He licked him on the nose.

Zena didn't know what to think. Diesel wanted to play soooooo bad. He barked and jumped and nudged and ran but Zena wouldn't give in. She'll eventually break down and play with him but right now she's showing him who's boss.

We will continue to integrate him into the Crazy M pack. From how things went today, it looks really good. WELCOME DIESEL!

The Beginning of a Journey

Tami over at Pennsylvania Wild Woman posted a picture of Diesel as he was waiting for his ride earlier this week. Jump over there and check it out. He's the cutest pup! I'm not a biased new mother or anything, really!

He will be in Texas tomorrow evening. I can hardly wait. I'm like a kid waiting for Santa.
