Grace is My Name....

Hurting myself is my game.  Yep, that's right.  I've managed to hurt myself again.  Really, it's not surprising.  I do it on a regular basis.  But this time, it brought me to my knees.

It all started with this...

Diesel and his soccer ball.  Harmless, right?  Well, I thought so too.  I was playing soccer with Diesel like every night when I get home.  But this time, instead of making contact with the ball, I smacked the frozen ground!  Really, I have no idea how I did it.  I'm gifted in hurting myself.  I excel in this arena.

So I immediately felt pain coming from my big toe.  I actually sat down in the yard.  But when I saw Diesel coming at me with the ball, I figured I better get up or he would be on top of me.  I made it to the living room chair.  (Okay, here I must again explain that I hate blood.  It makes me light headed.  Even the thought that it may be coming forth out of my body sends my head a swirling.) My ears started ringing.  I could feel the end of my sock was wet.  I sat there for a little bit then decided to take my boot (suede fuzzy boot) off.  The end of my sock was bloody but not bad.  That was a good sign.  I knew I was going to have to take that sock off.

I went to the bedroom to lay on the bed.  I figured if it grossed me out and I passed out, at least I would be on the bed!  So I worked my sock down my leg and foot to the toe.  Eek!  My toenail was at a right angle to my toe! I bent it backwards.  Ick!  Good news, I didn't pass out!  I took a picture of my toe and texted it to the husband at work.

Of course, he calls wondering what the heck happened.  I explained and then he lectured me on wearing those "house shoes" outside.  Which they are not but he doesn't see it that way.

I tried cutting the nail that was sticking up but couldn't.  It hurt way to much.  Was gonna put hydrogen peroxide on it but it was in the barn.  So I found some horse ointment in the house and used it.  It throbbed all night.  Who knew a toe could hurt so bad.

Had to wear my wide toed barn shoes to work today.  Couldn't get anything else on.  I have court tomorrow.  Plan to wear them again.  Hopefully I won't need to testify on anything!  If so, hope the Judge doesn't look at my feet.

I showed the husband what it looked like this afternoon.  Then I was able to cut the nail off.  He told me I was "one tough wench".  Ahhh, that's a compliment coming from him!

Now I'm self medicating with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.  I think it's a miracle cure cause I feel no pain!

Oooouch! Girl that hurts soooo bad, I'm sure! Don't worry, surely the Judge knows you are a country gal doesn't he? I feel for you and I'll bet it's going to get worse before it gets better! At least you were able to get the nail off!

Oh those hurt SO bad! Where's the pictures!?! I would look!
I had one that ended up hanging there. I made Wade take the pony hoof nippers and cut it, it was so thick. Worse, when it grew back, it grew back even thicker than before. I now have matching super thickie big toenails, thanks to horses stepping them off. But I hear ya on hurting yourself. I do it all the time. I can't mention what names my dear friends call me, but dork is the mildest of them.
Hope you feel better soon. Don't run out of the ice cream!

OOh no! Its amazing how much you overlook your toes until one of them is causing pain...then it hurts ALL THE TIME.

I, for one, and somewhat grateful there is no picture here. Haha..I was a little scared to scroll down at first. I dont do awesome with injuries anymore.

Ouch!
There was this old lady who was part of the horsemen for a really long time. (She raised the ugliest horses you ever saw) It didn't matter what was wrong with ya. Her advise was always the same
"tape it up"
broke arm....tape it up
sore throat....tape it up.
badly bent toe nail...tape it up.

Good grief! that hurt just reading about it! I'm a klutz too, so I can sympathize.

I did that with a fingernail. There is only one thing to do, flip it back. I had grabbed two dogs that were fighting by the collars and it bent the nail back on one finger and it stayed that way. I immediately had someone else flip it back (a guy - they always find that kind of thing cool). It was painful for a minute but then it was over.
I'm lame now too (my husband calls me Grace too) I had a dog harassing a house cat and I gave her a boot in the butt with the side of my slippered foot. She had a bony-er butt than I anticipated and now I have a huge bruise and swelling on my arch and it's painful to get my boot on. I think you and I are kindred spirits!

Should we start calling you Grace... LOL :) Don't worry I am the same way (about always hurting myself.) I was in ballet for years and only fell once b/c my toe shoe was slick... but I trip over my feet all the time just walking a straight line... :)

Good heavens! Well, you can count the times you've been shot with paint balls. That wasn't your clumsiness. But it makes me worry about that bull kissing thing you do.

OK, so you have the hydrogen peroxide (people stuff) in the barn and the horse ointment in the house are there any other quirks we should know about you? Although I must admit I have horse stuff in the house and people stuff in the barn too. LOL

I like you form of self medicating, only I'd proably skip the cookie dough and head straight to the chocolate chip cookies to accompanying my favorite ice cream, peppermint candy with hot fugde on top. Just thinking about it makes my toe not hurt........or yah, my toe wasn't hurting in the firts place, it was yours.

Hope it heals up quickly.
