Girls Gone Wild

We put out hay again.  Never ending chore this time of year.  However, this time, the calves were FULL of it!  Let me show you the importance of a hay ring.

There is actually a ray ring around that bale.  But it's all broken from the bulls and cattle.  We put it in the calf pen thinking it would be okay.  Well, they showed us otherwise.  I think it's time for a new one!

See, I told you they were full of it!  And this girl will come especially!!

Our horses love to toss it around too...... more on the ground that they have to pick up later....

LOL! We used to have a hereford bull, his name was Herman the Killer Hereford, and he would ram the bale while it was on the bale forks on the tractor. It was a chore driving the tractor in there to put the bale in because he would get in front of the bale and beller and bawl and ram the bale. Ahhh, the memories! He also tried to turn the pickup truck over one year when I was in the bed of it busting square bales to put in the bale feeder.

I think my dad got tired of them, so we just put our bales out how. And his bull is MEAN, he head butts 5 bales in a row trying to move them... LOL

What a mess they have to make. I fondly remember the heifers headbutt tossing all their feed around. Messy buggers.

that was too funny.
The horses usually just dig a hole in the middle, wasting good hay. I usually get out there throw it back in the ring while giving them a stern lecture about the cost of hay. Never works :-(

Cows are the best when they are acting goofy!

To funny! I have forgotten how much they like the big round bales. We went back to square bales now that we went down to just a few steers.

I think you need to talk to those babies about playin' with their food! But they do look adorable though... so I figure just let 'em be! ;)
