Pistol Packin' Mama

Yesterday, I spent the day at a concealed handgun class.  A friend wanted to get her license so I told her I would go with her.  The class started at 8 in the morning and lasted till 7 that night.  We learned all the Texas laws regarding concealed handguns.  Went to the range and qualified with our guns.  Then back to the classroom to get all the paperwork filled out correctly and take the final written exam.

Of course, the range was the fun part.  I got to take my lil .380 out and shoot up the target.  I love that lil gun.  It's perfect for a woman's hand.

Of course, this is EXACTLY what I look like with mine!

Anyhoo, I shot a 243 out of 250 at the range.  I really should have gotten a perfect score but I let a few get out of the 5 point range.  I haven't shot this gun in about 4 years so I guess I'll take that score.  Here's a look at my target.

Some of the guys there had the center all blown out.  I was pretty proud of mine.  My ammunition is much smaller than what they were using.  Their bullets make really BIG holes while mine make small holes.  Takes a lot more hits from mine to take out the middle.  Geez, boys overcompensating with big guns!

I told the husband I was going to send a copy of this picture to the guy that had such bad aim at training.  Tell him this is how you are suppose to shoot!  Would that be bad of me?  :o)

Naw, not bad a'tall! If ya caint hit the target you ought not ta be shootin!

I'm not much of a handgunner (not much experience with them) but I'm a hellofa shot with a rifle or shotgun. We don't have concealed carry here, but I wish we did! I always say that somebody is gonna think twice bout sticking a gun in your face if they think you might do the same to them!

Hope your weekend is going swell girl!

Yeah, it would be bad of you... But so much fun!!

I have to admit that I'm better with a rifle, but oh... I love my little Walther P38!

Frame it. Hang it in your office. I bet you get more respect.

I agree with the Goodwife; if you can't shoot than don't use one.

Great shots! I'd be scared of you. I love shooting MY Smith & Wesson revolver. Notice I said mine but the rifles are ours, HA!!

Sure- send it to him but do it nicely- tell him that if you ever have to be his partner, he'll know that you've got his back! (Cause he sure couldn't hit the front of anything....heeheehee!)

I need to learn to shoot like that.
And I've thought about taking a concealed carry class, too. They give them here on Saturdays.

He got me a... FN five-seven pistol. It's light weight and has low recoil. But I am not a gun person. I do need to practice.

Especially if I have to be able to shoot to get my permit.

Congratulations to you!

Sounds fun!! You would think this farm girl could shoot a gun like it was second nature. Negative...I've really really really been wanting to take the class.

Why doesn't this surprise me? GREAT shooting girl. I've never shot a handgun, a rifle is my weapon of choice but I'll bet a handgun is fun.

Many years ago my husband had a handgun. And we had these sows that someone traded us a horse for. (Stupid, we only had cow corrals to keep them in with one board added on the bottom) One kept getting out and I kept getting madder til I went and got the gun, stepped out the back door, (we only had wad cutters, practice ammo) two handed the gun, and let a shot fly at this pig in the garden about a 100 yds away. I was shocked when it squealed and fell over. I went running over crying, thinking I had killed a pig, with a handgun, at a 100 yards with a wad cutter? I looked and couldn't see the entrance wound, just then the pig jumped up and ran back in the corral. I'm not sure what exactly had happened but the good thing was when she got out after that, any loud noise sent her running for the corrals. My famous pig (true) story.

Wow are you ferocious!!!! Now you need to get yourself a purse with a secret compartment! I have had my license for about 2 years, we can concealed carry here too. I have been thinking of getting a 380 because it is so small and light.

ELPH & I got our concealed carry permits last year. We often go to the range together with our Browning BuckMark .22's for target practice. It often becomes a competition...that 98% of the time I win! I'm currently looking for a carry gun.

Oh and the 3 men that were also at the range? I think they brought every gun they owned! All big caliber "Diry Harry" type. Boys.

Great shooting!
I have an AMT Backup .45, I love this little gun. I really need to go and get a concealed carry, I only usually carry it when hunting. I used to have a CWP but let it lapse when we moved to a different county. I would love to take it to a range and see how it really shoots! Its a very short range weapon being a 5" barrel! But it doesnt kick bad at all!

Nice shooting! I'd frame it and hang it on the wall also.

One thing I love about Alaska is that we can carry OPEN and only need a permit if the laws require it. I have my CWP and usually have my Taurus 44 somewhere close. It's a little large to carry concealed but I figure stopping power trumps stealth anytime.

My favorite bumper sticker? An armed society is a polite society.
