We only bucked 9 of the 10 babies we just weaned. Itty Bitty went for the ride but nothing else. She is so small, we won't breed her for buckin' anyhow so we didn't want to take the chance of hurting her. She hung out in the back pen, cheering her friends on.
We were pretty happy with the group as a whole. Two will definitely be headed to the sale barn. One bull calf may get another chance. The other six showed us enough to keep.
Here are a couple flicks I took. I really did a bad job with our calves. I think I was trying to watch to much to actually take a good picture. My timing was off real bad.
We made it home at dark. As we pulled up the drive, the truck lights caught the devastation in the yard. Another doggie bed experienced a slow and painful death. It's innards strewn throughout the side yard. What do ya expect with 5 dogs in a yard all day? RIP doggie bed #2.

oh yeah! Number 2. Wait..that doesn't sound polite. What is number 2's name? That's my baby. What exactly do the machines on their back do/measure?
Wow those babies can buck!
Goodness....
They sure know there business!
Dee-#2 hasn't been named yet. The box just simulates weight on their back and releases the flank strap. We use it until they are about 3 years old and can have an actual rider.
I still think the pics turned out great.
Looks like lots of fun to watch.
Yes the pics are great! -- It is very interesting, we've gone to rodeos and fun shows for years but never gave it a thought to how those bucking babies are made....
grand idea for the dog fund!
Lookin good! Poor bed:)
Looks like some pretty good ones!
That brindled calf would make a great rug if he doesn't work out. Sorry that's how my mind works.
And YAY on the donate button too! Good for you... but now I'm afraid I might feel guilty and responsible for anyone losing their "right to procreate!" Unless it involves legs or sumthin.
LMAO!
The last picture is my favorite! How do they move like that! ouch! I have a hard time with my yoga moves!
Wow, I think they all look good.
I held my breath for a second and reread your last paragraph...a doggie BED it said, not what I thought the first time. Thank Goodness.
I still LOVE LOVE the brindle calf!! Awesome colors, looks like a good bucker in the pic...I wonder if he's one of your 6?! I have to agree with Lil Mama though if he doesn't work out for that he sure would make a pretty rug :)
Wow, girl those three can really buck! That last one looks awesome! I bet it's lots of fun to watch all the little guys and see what they can do.
It must be really hard to be the photographer and want to watch at the same time..I thought you did pretty good.
So another dog bed bit the dust..bet that was a sight to see:)
It is all a matter of perspective I guess. Don't much care for Brahmas so if #3 keeps developing a solid fish tail now there's the one to draw to. :) May they make it to the PBR finals someday. Are you having them on an exercise and high protien program?
Loved the picts.
we love your pics! my son is a 12 year old wanna-be bull rider and rode his first bull last summer. i had to show him how they start the bulls...
