Six Inches and Counting

It's been raining! For three days as a matter of fact. Most of the time it's a nice slow rain but every once in awhile we get some hard down pours. For the first two days, the ground was soakin' up all the water. I guess we got saturated cause today our place looks like this...

We had to go to town for groceries this morning. Our bridge is about under water. I made the husband stop. He told me it wasn't safe to sit there and take pictures. But I did it anyhow. The bridge will most likely be under water by this evening.

Lots of water everywhere. We live three miles down a dirt road. Luckily, our dirt roads are maintained well enough with gravel that it's not a big ordeal when it rains. The only issue we have is the water going over the roads. In Texas we have a sayin' "Turn around, don't drown" due to flash flooding. You have to be real careful not to get washed off the road from the water.

We made it back from town with a few goodies for the dogs. Diesel doesn't mind the rain cause he got a new bone. Doesn't he look happy...

The husband may have to get the aluminum boat out of the barn to take me to work tomorrow!

Ahh, Diesel is too cute with his bone!! And girl, let me tell you about some rain! We have been getting so much too!! It's defiantly wet here now! Our yard looks just like yours. Luckily this afternoon we have gotten some sunshine. Hopefully it will dry up some of the rain.

Hey you aren't suppose to lollygag around on flooded bridges, no matter how big the truck is! I tell you that Diesel is fitting right in isn't he! I am so glad you got him to enjoy and I hope you all don't float away with the rain, but I imagine they would like to see some of it further south than Waco where the drought is so bad.
I haven't noticed if they have gotten any or not. I hope so I have friends down by Edna, Victoria area and they need it. I hear it is horrible!

Send some rain to OREGON! We sure could use it! Keep your head above water, and keep sending pictures of that cutest guy, Diesel! He is so adorable!

I think you should just stay home tomorrow. Read a good book, make some soup, and keep dry!

Last week we had over 5 inches. Our terraces broke through and we had water everywhere. A farmer about 5 miles east of us lost their house. Water was running in one window and out the other. Not good at all.

Unbelievable!! WOW! Your bridge looks rather scary. I hope you don't have repairs to do afterwards. Glad for you all to get the rain but couldn't it spread itself out a little?! Great pics!

We have the same sayin' here in the Ozarks. The water rises fast and furious in these hills and hollers.

Sometimes ya gotta take your chances to get the shot. I was photographing a skunk the other day from about 8ft....then I read they can project their perfume 15ft. Oops!

Ya'll get your highwaterwaders out and have a fantastic evening!!!

I know that look out the door... we've had it up here in Oklahoma. At our place we've had, so far this past week, about 4.5 inches and, like you, the first couple of days it was just soaked up real quick into the ground, now the puddles...

Diesel looks like a happy pup!
