Let There Be Hot Water

Lookie what got installed at my house today...

Yep, a new hot water heater. The husband noticed the old one was leaking while I was gone last week. After inspection, we decided it best to buy a new one.

So today, the husband installed it all by himself! That is quite the feat around here. And the only extra damage caused was this...

He took his POCKET KNIFE to the wall when the pipe wouldn't fit properly. Luckily, sense kicked in before he cut up the length of the wall! Realized he couldn't cut through the outside wall and decided to get some elbow joints.

I noticed the enlarged hole in the wall when I got home but didn't say a word. If that was the worst of it, he actually did very well. Later, he mentioned it to me. I asked if when he was cutting the wall, did he ever hear my voice in the back of his mind say "remove your pocket knife from my wall!" He said no but he did realize he should stop. Hey, we are making progress!!

You are soo WISE to "Never look a gift horse in the mouth!" I have done it too many times over the years to my dear hubby and now he never does any handy-man jobs for me anymore! (I SINGLE-HANDEDLY painted the outside of my house last year) Now...I have to do all that stuff myself and my work looks much worse than your hubby's!

Congrats on getting your pic choosen for the paper...that was one of my favorites.

That is great that he fixed it. My hubby is pretty good at fixing things, the only thing I don't like is that he gets things out to fix it with and never puts it back! The only thing he doesn't mess with is the electrical stuff. I love it that a man can fix things and be an all around man. There is so many guys that have to call someone to get things fixed no matter what it is.

Hehe! I'd been married to my husband about two years, he was an A/P Mechanic at the time - he was installing a new hot water heater in our new little house and I asked, "Are you sure you know what you are doing?" He put his tools down, looked at me and said, "Paula, I take million dollar airplanes apart every day and put them back together again and guess what?" I looked at him like he was going to tell me something really "big" and he said, "They fly." I walked out of the room, never questioned him again. He just knows it better work!

P.S. My husband says, "If you don't find 'em handsom, you better find 'em handy!"

Well done, husband! And progress, not perfection--that's all we ask for.

Oh you are so correct on that point. I NEVER EVER criticize when the DH does any sort of repair or handi-work. I am just grateful he got it done.

Otherwise it could be many cold showers for us too.

HOT water heaters are a total drag to install.....

bahahahaha.......why are men that way?!!?!?!?!?!?
but yes you are right.....he did do it so we must not forget to remember that when they do things like this!!!!! we have to take the good with the bad.....and a cold shower would be bad!!!!

Holes can be patched. You're lucky to have a hubby that isn't afraid to make repairs and one who finishes the job once he starts!
