Happy Sweet (Well that could be Debated) 16, Brit!

My niece just turned 16 and what kind of good aunt would I be if I didn't post some of my favorite pictures of her as she grew up. Enjoy the pictoral journey. I sure did!

Your Weekly Dose of Lil Man

I've had a crappy few days so what better way to make me feel better than play with my super cute puppy! He always puts a smile on my face. So tonight when I fed, I took the camera along to snap a few pictures. He has grown so much in the last few weeks.

So he's into biting EVERYTHING right now. That means he is usually attached to my leg while I'm feeding the calves. I look like Lurch walkin' around dragging my leg behind me. He's very persistant!

Then he decided he needed to eat with Stubby. Stubby was not to keen on the idea.

But Lil Man wasn't SKEERED. He wanted to show Stubby some luv.

After all that excitement, it was time for a power nap in the hay.

I asked Zena what she thought of Lil Man. This is what she said.....

Oh, that's what all big sisters think of pesky little brothers! I know you love him too!

Needed A Smile Today

And this was the best Daisy could muster for me.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

This is the youngest calf we have on the place right now. He's a little bull calf. And he looks pretty cute. The husband just loves him. Well, I on the other hand, am not quite as fond. I told the hubby this little man is pretty wild. Every evening when I feed, he runs crazy. You'd think after awhile of doing the same routine, he would simmer down. But nope, we go thru the same ordeal every night.

Sunday we sorted our bull calves and heifer calves. Of course, this little man and his mother were in the mix. His mom, Mudpie, knew to go on out when we gave her an opening but this little fella only saw mass pandemonium! I was in the pen with him and the other calves while the husband worked the gate. First, the idiot ran straight into the panels sticking his head thru and proceeded with a walleyed fit. Then he decided to come after me, not once but twice. The little turd. The husband said he was actually worried about me one of the times. Isn't that sweet. But I used my best shake and bake moves to get out of the way! We finally managed to get him out of the pen and into the pasture.

Doesn't he look like he has a bit of an attitude?

The Truth Comes Out

I haven't been fully honest with y'all about our donkey Pearl. She is a special donkey. Not another one like her that I know of. But she is very timid and has never wanted a lot of attention. After I publish this, I'm afraid she will no longer lead a normal life. People will come miles around to see her.

This is what I'm talking about.......

Pearl is a three eared donkey! We've tried hiding it for these last few years. She is very self conscious and all but there is no denying it. My Pearly is special.

Sunday Stills-Potluck Assignment

Over at Sunday Stills, our assignment this week was Potluck. So here is what I came up with.....

Some POTS!

And I'm guessing they are pretty lucky cause they ended up as decorations to an entryway instead of trash in the dump!

This place is on the way to our cattle lease. They have five of these toilets at their entry lined up. Aren't they too funny. They have various other "flower pots" but I think these were the best!

Note to Self

Don't wear pantyhose near puppy!

Additional note to self...don't take pictures of leg in macro. It looks huge! (It could be the girl scout cookies and my slack workout schedule but I'm blamin' the macro lens.)

Minnie and Pearl

You haven't seen much of Minnie and Pearl lately. Thought I would give you an a**load of pictures! Haha! Here's my two girls. As many of you already know, they are special force black ops killer donkeys. Their mission, if they choose to accept it, to rid the pastures of coyotes.

This is how they sneak up on their prey! They never see Minnie coming!

Pearl Portrait

Hey! How'd that get in there!

Well, back to business....Minnie Portrait.

Back to the business at hand, to serve and protect!

Black Bull Saga Continued

Yes, can you believe the bull is STILL out! I had made up my mind that if he was still outside the gate when I got home from the feed store on Saturday, I was gonna try to pen him. But of course, he was no where in sight upon my return. So dufus me, I thought maybe the idiot owner had actually got him. Oh nooo! When I went out Sunday morning to feed, I saw him along our fence line. I couldn't believe it. He's like an apparition. He's there one minute and gone the next. I never saw him the rest of Sunday. Then Monday, we were bull free.

This evening I was outside the barn playin' with Lil Man (aka Titan). I heard a commotion up towards the road. I look and see my neighbor from across the road (not the bull's owner)chasing that stupid bull with his gator. Then the bull takes a right turn into our drive. My dogs go nuts and take off down the drive. I just happen to be on the phone with the husband during all this. I didn't know what the heck was about to happen. I got off the phone and started hollerin' at the dogs. The neighbor got the bull turned about 1/4 way down the drive and pushed him back out to the road. All the dogs but Harley (my killer Yorkie) came back. He was on a mission to get that bull! I had to take off down the drive yellin' like a mad woman. He finally stopped. The neighbor continued to push the bull down the road. Where he was goin', I have no idea. He crossed him over the bridge and from there I don't know. A little bit later, he came back by without the bull in tow. I guess he wanted to share the pain in the butt bull with the other neighbors down the road! It just amazes me that I haven't seen the owner attempt to catch the bull since Friday.

I thought about callin' the sheriff but we live in the corner of three counties. So depending on which side of the road he's on, would be who would deal with him. I'm sure it would be a big mess. If I get the sucker caught, I'm takin' him to the sale barn and tellin' them to do whatever they do with strays. It's just ridiculous now.

Drum Roll Please...

The results are in for the giveaway! I really hated only drawing one person's name. You all should get a prize for puttin' up with me! Maybe I'll just have to have more giveaways!
Anyhoo, I cut all the names out from the comments.

Put them in my lucky camo cap. Isn't it the cutest!

Shook the names all around. Did a little dance and pulled out the winner!

And the winner is........

Deborah! Yeah you!
So send me an email with your contact information and I will get your prize in the mail.
A great big thanks to all those who commented! I have a great bunch of people out there!

I'm Not Right in the Head

Due to the husband's illness or work schedule, I check and feed the cattle at the lease place. Of course, the husband will have a bazillion questions about how they look, does this one look okay or that one. My answers usually consist of..."looks fine. looks okay." things of that nature. If they are on all fours, relatively full looking and don't have snot running out their nose, I think things are good. Well you know that does not suffice the husband. So I have learned to take my camera and bring him photos of the cattle. That way he can see for himself.

We are currently in calving season. So the questions become more centered on the cows personal area. As I was taking pictures yesterday, I felt like a porn mag photographer.

Hi, I'm Daisy. I'm a Pices. I enjoy leisurely walks thru the meadow. My idea of a perfect date would be a moonlit stroll thru the hay field. I'm a little shy but if you bring feed, I'll follow you anywhere...

Maybe I'll make a magazine for the bulls, name it Rustler. But that would mean a lot of writing on my part cause, you know, they only get them for the articles!

Did Someone Say Giveaway??

I started this blog like many of you, to allow family and friends into our daily adventures. Both the husband and my family live pretty far away so this seemed like a great idea. In the beginning, I seriously thought no one even read my posts. Our families swore they did but I had my doubts! I begged them to comment but to no avail. I eventually ventured out and came across Trainwreck. I instantly loved her sense of humor. Then from her blog I found countless other great people. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would meet so many wonderful people from so many places.

Then people started stoppin' by my lil ol blog. I got so excited when the comments started coming in. It's sad but y'all's comments highlight my day. Yea, I'm quite pathetic! I realize that.

And now I have 50 followers! I can not believe it. Besides the followers, I have countless others that show up to comment. Surely you all are mentally imbalanced in some way. That's the only theory I can come up with. Nothing else could explain it. Lord knows I am not that entertaining!

So to reward all you mentally imbalanced people, who I love and respect, I am having a giveaway. You should get something for puttin' up with me day in and day out. As a token of my appreciation, I will send the winner an assortment of Crazy M Photography notecards as well as some other odds and ends surprises.

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment. The winner will be announced Tuesday. So you have till Monday night to enter.

Just So You Know, I'm Gonna Win the Lotto!

I was deboning a chicken for tortilla soup at lunch. I came across the wishbone. I made two wishes...one for each hand of course. Left hand....win the lotto. Right hand....husband gets well soon. Well left hand won!

I ran into the bedroom and yelled to the husband that we are going to win the lotto. Told him it was destined by chicken bone. But sorry, you're not gettin' well anytime soon. It's the price you must pay to win the lotto!

Black Bull Saga

Have you ever come across a person and thought, "That guy should not own an animal." I've had that thought recently. It began Thursday evening. As I pulled up to the mail box, I saw a big black bull in the ditch by the neighbor's pasture. At first I thought it was the neighbor's bull but I had just passed his son. Surely, the son would have stopped and put him in if it had been their bull. So I proceeded up my drive to the house.

After I changed my clothes, I went out to feed. I saw a truck parked at the end of our place and a guy pushing the bull up my fence line. I'm puzzled as to where the guy is takin' the bull since there is no cattle around the side or back of our place. The guy is hollerin' and makin' a scene as he walks behind the bull. My thoughts are, he is going to push that bull right over into my pasture. So I pen all my cattle up to feed them. All I need is that bull jumping the fence and gettin over here. It would not be good if he bred our registered heifers!

I go about my feedin' and notice the guy walking back down the fence line to his truck sans bull. Hmmm, wonder where the bull went? The husband calls to check on things and I begin tellin' him the story. I'm standing outside the barn and notice headlights on the next road over. The guy is on a 4 wheeler now, chasing the bull back towards our fence line! So I get off the phone and close our cattle back up in the trap. I watch the headlights and listen to him yellin' and gasin' the 4 wheeler. I eventually lose sight of him way in the back. Then, all of a sudden, I hear two gun shots. Holy crap, did he shoot the bull? After that, I didn't hear anything else. I let our cattle out.

Yesterday, the husband was home sick with the flu. He hears a commotion outside. He gets up and sees this ya-hoo in our drive with that dang bull. The husband goes outside to see what the heck is goin' on. The guy says he got the bull in last night but DIDN'T FIX THE FENCE! So the bull got out again. No kindin'? Geez! The guy asks if he can pen the bull on our place. The husband tells him that would be fine. Asked the guy if he had a trailer to come get him once he's penned. Ahh, no. But he thought he could borrow one. So the husband tries to sook the bull in with cubes. No sookin' goin' on here. I guess after your chased on foot, chased by 4 wheeler and shot at, you don't care to follow cubes! The guy told the husband he would go around him and chase the bull up into the pens. The husband told him NO, just stay back. But then the bull went up to the pen where our bulls are and wanted to fight. There was no penning this guy with just the sickly husband and an idiot. The husband told the guy to push him back out our drive and close our gate! The husband watched the guy push the bull back down our fence line with his rifle over his shoulder!

I went out to feed yesterday evening. All the cattle were in the back pasture along the fence. That stupid bull was STILL OUT! I called the cattle up and penned them again. I swear.

I left our cattle penned last night and this morning. Headed to the feed store this morning and don't want the flu-ridden husband to have to worry about the bull. I'll let them out once I get back so I can keep an eye on 'em.

May I Squeeze Your Lemons?

How horrible am I? I have received this award twice and have not passed it along! Shame on me! Two wonderful ladies, DVM's Wife and Trainwreck, presented it to me. I sooo enjoy both of them and hope my lack of punctuality doesn't make them think I don't appreciate it. Cause I do so much! Maybe it's because I've never had a lemonade stand before and just don't know how to act?? Nah, probably cause I'm just a slacker!

So here we go. First the rules...

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.

2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!

3. Link to your nominees within your post.

4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

5. Share the love and link this post to the person from whom you received your award.

And now, drum roll please......

My list of blogs that show great attitude and/or gratitude are:

So with the cold weather, maybe it should be a lemonade slushie stand?

Lookie What I Got!

People grieve in many forms. Me....I have to fill the void in my heart. And the faster it gets filled the better I am. So here is what I got this afternoon......

Meet Titan. He's a 6 weeks old Irish Wolfhound, Anatolian Shephard, Great Pyrenees cross and a total sweetie! He loves to snuggle and I love to oblige him!

Are you wondering where he came from? Well, I had the husband call the guy I bought Duke from just to see if he had any puppies. Can you believe he was just weaning a set! So we made arrangements to look at them this afternoon. The people were super nice. They felt so bad about what had happened to the Duke. They sold us Titan for what we paid for Duke, which was practically nothing, and home we came.

The other dogs gave him a good sniff but didn't seem to mind him. They just wanted their individual attention as always.

We made him a place in the barn. Put up some panels and placed the small doghouse in the pen. He has hay and a blankie to stay warm. The husband was worried about leaving him out at night with the coyotes and during the day with all the animals around here. He needs to grow a little bit more before he can stay out on his own.

The husband asked if I was going to be "sick" tomorrow so I could stay home with him. I wish I didn't have so much work to do or I would. I really think animal people should be able to take maternity leave for their babies too!

What Happened to being Neighborly?

Late yesterday afternoon, the husband received a call from the neighbor next to our lease place. He left a nasty voice message saying our cattle got out and ate SIX round bales. Of course, as soon as the husband got the message, he tried calling the guy back. He wouldn't answer. The husband tried the rest of the afternoon and all evening, still no answer.

When we both finally got home from work, the husband let me listen to the message. You know it sure is easy to be ugly on voicemail. And I think the guy may be exaggerating a tad bit. We only have 20 cows on the lease place. You can't tell me they ate six round bales in a day! Come on!

So the husband asked me to go check this morning. When I pulled up, two cows were in a trap between our lease and the neighbor's hay. I got all the cows back over in our pasture and fed 'em. Then headed up the fence line to see where they were going thru. I found the spot. It was at the tank. Since the water's gone down, there was a place they could get out. I repaired it best I could and walked over on the neighbor's place to see how the cows were getting from our place, across another pasture, around a house and into the guy's hay. Hmmm, he leaves the gates open in the trap between the pastures. Not that I can tell the guy to close his gates but really! He doesn't have any animals on his place so what would it hurt to close one gate to keep his hay safe. Plus I didn't see six bales of hay destroyed. I saw one that looked ate on. I don't know what the deal is.

The husband called to see what I found out. I told him everything and he thanked me for taking care of it. He said I was awesome! Whatever, any 'ol wife would head out in 30 degree weather to put cattle in and fix fence!

Spring Fever

I'm in need of some color these days. I would think some of you stuck in a world of white might need some as well. So today is just pictures of cheerful flowers. Hope it brings a little smile to your heart. Cause Lord knows, after the week I've had, I need a smile or two!

Here's to brighter days ahead!
