Yes, I have some issues. Or rather some bones to pick. Things that have been tickin' me off. So much so I dreamed about it last night and didn't sleep worth a darn!
Shall we begin....
-Just because we don't have high priced well known breeding in our cattle, it doesn't make them less than yours! (We can't help that you don't know the greats of year's past! And that they made the "well knowns" of the present!)
-Don't ask for help when you know nothing about the industry, then argue your way is better.
-Give our bull recognition for his accomplishments, placing WAY over your high priced breeding. But no, you just brushed him off. (He placed 4th!! So proud of him!)
-Don't listen to our advice when we sold you the bulls. Telling you which ones would be the best ones for competition. You take the BEST one to the sale barn! But you keep your "popular" bred bulls that don't perform.
Yes, I get a little upset when people don't give our stock the recognition they deserve, when they deserve it. They are my babies. A lot of time and energy were spent with them. Can you tell my button has been pushed?
I have learned a lesson though. Don't sell bulls to people that want us to also "help" them. I just get mad seeing what they do with our guys. It is better for me to send them to contractors that know what the heck they are doing or to someone we don't know at all. So then we will never be involved later. Best I don't know if you screw the bull up.
Okay, now that I have that off my chest, there is always a new crop coming up. This guys is actually a year old now. Our good friend bought him yesterday, along with a couple others. The same guy that had all those awesome bulls and heifers! Don't have to worry about them. They have a good home.

Amen!! Be it bulls or horses, when you sell them to people who undervalue or mess them up.It cranks me up too!
I think you have wonderful bulls. It irks me too, to see things like that. Very frustrating.
I (back in the day) looked into breeding bulls too. The semen costs are outrageous!! But I do know the old "greats" that made today's bulls and I believe in them.
Don't let it get to you too much, girl. You're doing a good job!
This baby looks like powdered sugar mixed with cocoa....
I can see how it can be so frustrating for you! It's good to get those things off your chest:)
hes darling!
Horses are the same way--it is exhausting. If only you could be in business, without dealing with other people, life would be a lot easier
Just keep putting those good bulls on the ground. Mr. opinionated will soon find that they don't need to be "popular" to do the best job. And just maybe he'll regret selling that one.
Now, never sell to them again.
Your bulls are stunning, I have seen them buck and they out perform any rodeo stock that is in our area.
You go girl.......we're behind you all the way! If ya need a "hand" (for slap time) let me know!
I agree! And you're right, sometimes it's best not to know the people they are sold to.
oh and cute story... my husband has only been showing Cutting horses since we've been dating. He was at his first show and this guy was talking up his $15K horse he bought and his expensive saddle, and his bridle, and his horse trainer and his trailer and truck and on and on and on... and then he marked a 60, the lowest score you can get. My husband giggled... so see you deal with those "Know it all" type of people in everything you do :)
You guys do a good job and raise 'em right - don't let the other people get to you and you learned something through it all. Keep up the quality work!!
While I am still learning (which is why I read your blog), I would have to say I agree with you. I would be quite pissed!
I don't know how it is with cows, but most 'mutt' dogs and cats are way smarter and make better pets than the pedigrees, as far as I'm concerned.
I would be ecstatic to place at all!
Congratulations to you and your bull!
Hope you're all doing well and hubby is feeling better now, too. ♥
Love the little calf...just precious!
Sounds like we are both going through a diffrent but similar situation. Yours are idiots with livestock and mine is idiots for neighbors, who don't like dogs (or people). It does you good to vent it out every once in a while and when it comes to animals you get as cranky as I do. There is nothing wrong with it, it keeps us from shooting them! :)
Horses are the same way! Besides those 'names' weren't always names. They came from somewhere- usually from a good mama and a very good daddy- and it took someones vision to create them.
Keep on doing what you do...Time will out.
We have just started breeding and selling beef breeding bulls. We have had someone say that our bulls aren't as good as some peoples. That our bulls don't fill out. One, this was their first bull that they bought as a yearling. Two, they never fed it anything! It was starved!!!! Some people just don't get it. Other people say our beef bulls are the best in this reagion. I know exactly where you are coming from. lol People sometimes!!!!!!
Everyone sure is thinking your way! Including ME!
So sorry you had to deal with this! Some people just suck. And yeah, there is nothing I hate more than somebody who obviously has no clue what they are doin' tellin' YOU how to do something!
I've had the same thing happen with a couple of horses I've sold in the past. It's so frustrating when someone doesn't know what they have or how to handle it. I had a horse once who would drop his head and stop on a dime...I sold him and 2 weeks later, the guy comes to me saying, "why does he throw his head up and rear up when I try to stop him?" - - I watched him ride him....he had his reins so short and choked up, that horse had no where else to go! UGH...praying all your new guys and gals go to great homes that know what they are getting!
Whit
Ohhhh I can understand a little. I have bred horses, put time and training into them ($$$$), then sold them for a song to someone who was supposed to ride them and/or show them, at least give them a good life. Then I find the horses are standing around in stalls doing NOTHING but being bored and getting fat. It makes me crazy!!!
I am not a cattle person, but that calf is absolutely darling and I love his colors.
