We don't know exactly what brought it on but Ruby jumped on Pepper late Wednesday night. Pepper never warmed up to Ruby. She would bark at her and occasionally snap at her. Ruby must have snapped back this time. With the size difference, Pepper didn't make it. It was just a horrible situation.
We are now looking for Ruby a new home. One without small dogs. We just can't take a chance she may hurt Harley, even by accident. The husband is allowing me to keep her at the house for now. I really don't want to stress her by taking her to the shelter. Depending on how long it takes, I may not have a choice. The entire situation has been so draining.

Hun, I know how your heart must be aching, but I'm glad that you don't hold Ruby intirely responsible. Somtimes things just happen... and she might have had issues with smaller dogs in the past.

I am still hoping you are able to deal with the grief. You always worry about bringing a stray into the mix how things will work out. I still am in shock that after this long a time that it happened with such a horrible ending. You just never know and now I know what my husband tells me when he tells me it isn't fair to the other animals sometimes. Take care and ((hugs)) you had no way of knowing, none of us ever do.
