A Passing of a Friend

A friend passed away this past Friday.  We had known him for years.  He worked at the feed store in our hometown and was always a wealth of knowledge.  He had bucking bulls as well.  Never was there a time when I saw him that he didn't have a smile for me and a kind word.

He was there when Diesel arrived from the East Coast.  I met the contractor that brought him to me at him and his partner's pens.  He would always ask about him, inquiring on how big he had gotten.

His death was unexpected.   It all stemmed from a bull hookin' his arm.  Nothing major.  But a blood clot formed and went into his brain.  The clot caused a stroke.  While in the hospital, his brain began to swell.  He was placed on a ventilator.  Finally, his family decided to remove him from life support on Thursday night.  He passed away early Friday.

One thing I take away from this is to enjoy your time on earth.  Don't sweat the small stuff, it's not worth it.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you all. You are right, life is fleeting and we never know when we'll be called home. Best to be as ready as we can...

I'm sorry for the loss of a good man. I've been hearing people say that we need to "live like we were dyin," lately, and this just reinforces that sentiment.

Even though we all have our time to pass, it is still hard for the loved ones to accept. :(

Don't sweat the petty stuff and dont' pet the sweaty stuff...
( the man that coined the original phrase lived here in my town- until he too died of a stroke.)
So sorry for the loss of your friend. Sometimes God's choices make no sense to us on this earthly plain.
Just don't let any of your bulls hook you or your man!

I'm so very sorry for your loss! It really is a great reminder though that there are no guarantees of growing old and gray. We must truly LIVE our lives every single day. You wrote a really nice tribute to him here. Love the pic!

It just seems when it's your time you go. All I know is I would rather wear out than rust out and we are plain lucky that we got to know some folks before they leave us behind and head onto greener fields..

Sounds like God called another good soul home. I've tried to live the rule that you should live each day as if it's your last. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes, I pray for another day to fix my mistakes.
