Meet Ruby

I fell in love with Ruby when I first met her.  She's such a sweet girl.  I knew if she did not get adopted soon, she would be mine.  I waited and waited.  Well, waited as long as I could.  It wasn't until I noticed she was sick a few weeks ago that I knew I had to bring her home.  The weather had changed and the dogs got snotty noses.  It was going thru the kennels.  I couldn't stand seeing her sick.  I told the Husband I had to stop myself from getting her that day.  It was only because we were going out of town and I couldn't at that time.

Every time I'd go to the shelter, I'd walk by her kennel and give her treats.  She just tugged at my heart.  On Saturday I decided I couldn't stand it anymore.  I told the Husband that I wanted her.  He gave me "the look".  I've seen it many times before but I also know that he would allow his crazy dog lady wife to bring her home. I emailed the shelter that morning and told them she was going to be mine.

Monday, I completed the adoption paperwork and it became official!  They announced over the loud speaker, "attention, Ruby has been adopted by crazy kit!"  Oh how they love me at the shelter!  There is just one hiccup.  I don't want to bring her home until she is spayed.  My adoption costs included the spay.  Lucky is still intact so I can't bring her home until the spay is done.  Problem is getting her in to the clinic.  The shelter is doing everything they can, even taking 3 male dogs off the list to give Ruby a spot.  So right now, we're at a stand still.

After work, I go up and see her.  Today, she was out in the play pen with another volunteer.  He and I have become friends.  He loves Ruby too so he's been trying to spend as much time with her as possible before she leaves.  I brought her a new collar, name tag and bone today.  We sat on the bench.  She curled up next to me, laid her head in my lap and went to sleep.  Started snoring!!  I hated to take her back to her pen but I'll see her tomorrow.

I told the husband she would probably be "his" dog.  Her personality reminds me of Zena and Jessie (our very first dog).  They both loved the husband more than me.  He's not even met her but I think he's kinda excited to get her home.  Cause this morning he was asking why we couldn't get her home.  And how long was it going to be.  I told him we had to wait until the spay.  This evening he asked if he needed to call up there and get it taken care of!  Ummmm, NO!

So fingers crossed, schedules can get shuffled around and Ruby can get her operation soon.  AND that once she is home, my brats will behave!

That's a really cool picture of Ruby. Did you know Rubies are worth more than diamonds of the same size. (At least that's what I heard).

Sydney-She was an owner surrender. They couldn't afford her anymore is what the paperwork stated.

I knew you couldn't pass up one of those faces for long! Hope you get Ruby home soon. We decided not to get Crash, to many issues with the adoption that we don't agree with.

Oh, Ruby is sweet. :) Good for you that you brought her home. That would be really hard...to meet so many pups that need homes. I would probably bring them all home...and you may yet too! ;)
