Got a call from the husband this morning after I got to work. He advised me that the cows and calves were no longer separated! He went out to feed the calves and noticed some in the cow pen. Then realized there were a few cows in the calf pen. I can see him standing there scratchin' his head.
The chain on the gate broke and they managed to push the gate slightly open. But just enough for a few to squeeze through each way. He said when he went into the pen, the cows went to run out and the calves started to run back. They knew it was feeding time. But then the cows started hookin' at the calves and they turned around and run off.
Husband tried getting them separated again by himself but it wasn't working out. So he let them be. Gonna wait till we are both home at the same time and can sort them together. Lil stinkers! They are back on milk. It's like crack, they can't get enough of it!

LOL that crack milk! Hopefully they won't get enough of a hit to be bawling for it all the time again.........
Can't blame the little ones! How many pairs do you have to separate again? Have a great weekend!
Ah, looks like you have your work cut out for you!
Stubborn liitle buggers, aren't they! It sounds like y'all have your work cut out for you - and then there's repairin'/replacin' the chain on the gate to contend with as well! Hopefully it all goes to plan, eh?
Ooooh,I love the milk crack, crack..;)
Yep, Milk is like crack. I don't envy you.
Weaning is never easy when you have great heavy milking cows.
We start weaning next weekend.
I warned the neighbors to invest in earplugs!
Open gates, ah, the stories I could tell.
