A Setback

Maybe we should change our name from Crazy M to Crippled M.  The Crippled M bunch had his and her MRIs this month.  I told y'all about the husband's at the first of the month.  Of course, his was a little more serious than mine.  I had one last week.  Trying to pin point my leg issue.  Since I've been running more consistently, my pain has returned.  The husband called the doctor and made me go back.  Ended up having an MRI last week.

Got the results today.  It's my Achilles. (Isn't that what I've been telling the doctor for over 3 months now!)  Good news he said, I don't need surgery.  Bad news, I can't run.  He's sending me to physical therapy for a month to see if it helps.  If not, then he will go in with a needle to make the tendon bleed to promote healing.  Doesn't that sound fun!

I am so bummed.  I need to continue to run.  I have to start my marathon training in August.  In order to be ready to start my marathon training in August, I need to be running now.  Do you get my issue here?!

The doctor said he understood I wasn't hearing anything but bad news.  He stated he realized he took away my "crack."  But I could do the elliptical or ride a bike for exercise.  That's when I started pouting and said "I hate the elliptical!"

So now I'm wallowing in self pity.  It's leading to this...

Yep, I'm drowning my sorrows in Diet IBC Root Beer!

CHEERS! Now, be a good girl and listen to your doctor! If you hurt it worse, Missy, you are going to pay later.

I'm sorry Girl! But I agree, ya gotta be good now so that you can run later. And if you have to push your marathon dreams back a year, then you have to. It isn't he end of the world, even though it feels like it. You are young and if you take care of yourself now, you'll be runnin' when you're sixty!

Definitely listen to the doctor or no marathon for you!

OH now... I believe that calls for the leaded stuff, not the unleaded!! Regular IBC rootbeer is much much better :)

I know what you're feeling, I had x-rays and an MRI yesterday, doc says he sees bone spurs in my knee (that was scoped 2 years ago for a torn meniscus (sp). Will find out tomorrow if that's all it is, so I'm guessing surgery, hopefully another scope, in my future. Haven't been able to walk my normal miles a day. Have to confess, either Diet Pepsi or Miller Lite is my "fix"! LOL Hope they get you fixed up quickly.

Ahh Poop! Well the good news is he didn't have to cut your leg off or shoot ya.
You'll be back on your feet in no time.

You don't want to go through surgery for this injury. It's like 8 weeks in a cast then physical therapy. My husband has torn both of his achillies since we have been married. He is no longer allowed to play basketball.

Sounds kind of like when they fire racehorses on the track when they get splints. I've never seen that done with a hot iron but I've seen the scars it left. I guess a person should always be thankful it's not worse, eh?

I have seen some pretty spectacular legs on bikers, if you hate the eliptical, maybe . . .

Now, you nagged the husband when he didn't listen, didn't you?
Just sayin'. ;)

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, girl!

Doctor knows best, there is always future marathons! Take of you first so that there can be lots of other runs and marathons!

You need to listen to the Doc and not run. It can be pretty serious if you abuse it until it's fully healed. Lot's of time to do a marathon.

IBC is my absolute favorite, all time, rootbeer.
I have been faithful to IBC since my very first sip in June of 1979.
Its a great combination with Ben & Jerry's ice cream too!!!

Please listen to your doctor.

No running now, but you can run all you want after you completely heel. ( I guess 6 months )

We are haying in Vermont!!
Hope all of you are enjoying sunshine, family and food this weekend!
