Family Photo Shoot

While my parents were visiting at Thanksgiving, my mom asked if I would take their picture. She wanted one for the Christmas card. I'm so NOT a portrait photographer. Posing people is not my thing. But I couldn't say no.

I asked what they were wanting and where they wanted to take it. They didn't really have a preference so I suggested the old bridge down from my house. I just love that old bridge. I will be so upset when they take it out.

My way of settin' up a shot...."Y'all go stand over there." Told you I wasn't a portrait taker. Then I get the question, "where do you want us?" My response, "you seriously asking me? Over there somewhere."

My dad took charge and placed everyone in the picture. A cowboy of many talents.

Then I moved on to taking just my niece's picture. Isn't she so pretty. Yep, she takes after her auntie! LOL

I let her do whatever she wanted. Just stayed focused on her ready to capture the pic. She's a goof ball, that's more like what she got from her auntie!

Then she decided she wanted pictures with the cattle. They were a little skittish with strangers. But we managed to ease around the pasture and get them in the background.

I can't believe she's gonna be 17 in January. I'll have to post the picture of the husband holding her on her 2nd birthday. She was blowing out her candles. Makes me feel so old!

All in all, I think they got some good shots. This is more my photography style. And of course, it is one of my favs.

I made them the Christmas cards and some prints before they left. Sent them electronically to Wal-Mart in their hometown so they would be ready for pickup when they got home. Unfortunately, the picture police work at the Hereford Wal-Mart. They wouldn't give my mom the pictures without a release from me. After a couple phone calls, a fax and two trips to Wal-Mart, my mom finally got her pictures. Who knew they would think a professional took them?! ROTFL!

I disagree, you did a fab job! I will be down for mine to be done, maybe you can make me more photogenic! I haven't had a picture done yet that I think I look good in! Beautiful family by the way!

You did great -- and yes I connect with the nonportrait pics like you - I love the last shot! When people ask me to do pictures I always tell them I take pictures of the strangest things - like your boots!

I love them! Your niece has your eyes! I like the black and white with the red checkered shirt showing. Did you use Photoshop for that one? I've always wanted to know how to do that! :)

But you are a professional photographer; you sell your photos, that makes you a professional! Those photos of your niece, and the last one, are wonderful.

You did a great job! I like the one of your mom laughing too. And your niece is very pretty. I'm horrible at posing people for portraits too. I'm a much better candid photographer.

Kit, I love them. I think you have a place in portrait photography. Your niece is going to be asking you to do her senior pics!

Those are great pics! Natural looking, and you ARE a photographer. I bet they have some great cards now, thanks to you.

I'm like you, I like to catch people unawares rather than posing. But you do a great job with both. I like the way you turned everything black and white except the checkered shirt on your niece in the one shot.

You did really good for a non-pro! Yes, I really like the B&W of them walking away. But, OMG...keep your niece under lock and key...she's a doll!

LOL...that was great! My old dog Abby chatters her teeth when she stands at the back door wantin' in! Cindy Sue needs a sweatshirt to wear around the house when the temps are really cold (like now with the Artic blast). She can't seem to keep warm enough even on the couch.

Tell Diesel to send that shirt on down to Abby; she'll wear it!

I love the second picture! The way she is laughing and he is looking at her. Those are my favorite pictures . . .when you just catch the moment!

Congrats on being Miss April!!! And I love the rough pasture play!!

Blessings~

I'm pretty sure you are a professional. Very nice. Love the last one, too.

The bridge was the perfect place.
