The Great Doggie Bed Debacle

The husband and I were at that magical place called Wally World on Saturday. Cruisin' the pet isle, I decided to get a doggie bed for Diesel. He lays on the front porch at night and I thought of all the kids, he might be the one to actually use a bed. The problem is I've tried to put doggie beds out in the past but they seem to always turn into toys and cover my yard with fuzz. So I thought I will get ONE and if it is destroyed, oh well, lesson learned AGAIN!

We got home and I put the bed on the front porch. There was a point of mass hysteria in which I finally sat on the bed myself to keep it in one place. With overly excited dogs, it's hard to wrangle them into laying on a bed. I went into the house and told the husband I would be surprised if it lasted the day.

Then I looked out and saw Diesel curled up on the bed. Perfect!

UNTIL, the other dogs decided they wanted the pet bed too. WHAT? None of the other dogs have ever wanted to sleep on a bed. Pepper was the biggest problem. She doesn't share.

So Pepper would get on the bed and refuse to let Diesel on. Then Diesel would bark and bark and whine and cry.

So I would have to go outside and pull Pepper off the bed. As soon as I would get her off, Diesel would jump on it and lay down.

Lucky Dog and Diesel were better at sharing.

Finally, Sunday morning we decided to go back to the store and get more doggie beds. There were only two left at the store so we bought those. Now Diesel and Lucky Dog are happy. They each have their own. The third one just sits empty. Pepper has not been back on the bed. She only wanted it when it was the only one to have. She's such a brat!

Great, and so true.

Well of course they used it after you sat on it. You claimed it as your own and now it smells like you. Love that shot of Diesel and LD sharing the bed.

My dogs have really bad allergies.
They take medication, but the vet said that I should wash their beds regularly. I can't fit them into my washer - and I don't like going to laundry mats. Soooooo, we bought a crib mattress, mattress pad, and crib sheets from Wally World. We got one for under $40. It's great. I just strip off the sheets each week, and toss them in the wash. Before putting on clean sheets, I wipe the mattress down with disinfectant. The bed is huge compared to dog beds. It's very sturdy and easy to keep clean!

Boy, has Diesel grown. I have beds for my two. They have to be upstairs with me at night and bought them each one, they use them but Jake goes in the closet and sleeps in there.

Too funny. I gave up on pet beds, because they prefer ours! Of course, it took me awhile to train Ricky to adjust. LOL

An easy pet bed are pillow covers, like the big ones. You can usually get a set of 2 for 10$ at wally world. Fill em up with cedar shavings and voila, instant doggie bed thats eco friendly and cheap. Not to mention they don't stink. They sell pet beds here filled with cedar for like 40$

Oh yeah, we have two dogs and two beds, but the smaller dog kept getting on the bed the bigger dog was on and she would get annoyed and move , so they would do this musical beds all night until I tossed them and said ENOUGH!

Wish I had known...threw one away when we were cleaning out the garage. I laughed when I envisioned you sitting on the dog bed to keep it from being in a tug of war!!

Thats a great story. Diesel is growing! Happy dogs. Our 4# cat steals Bob's bed everyday and he sits in the doorway and cries.

Cute blog! Are you still betting on how long they stay together? We went thru the same thing and then our daughter started working at a dog spa -- now we are like Neas Nuttiness -- I have to do a story sometime. It works great!

BAHAHAHAHA LOL LOL!! That's hilarious!!! We use doggie beds too and when we got my DD's Sharpei the cat wasn't so sure about her well in no time you would find them both asleep in it!!

Kids... don't they just drive you nuts?
I LOVE the photos, and I was lmao, knowing what those darn furry kids can be like!

My Jazzy's been laying on my good cushion on the front porch bench, (white fluff everywhere!! grrr!) so I went out and spend $62 for a nice, furry, soft little number - just for her! And guess who I caught sleeping in it?
The feral cat from next door, that's who!!! And now Jazzy looks at me as if she's saying: "are you joking? You want ME to get his nasty old fleas?? Get that stinkin' thing OUTTA here!"

It's great to see Deisel and Lucky Dog sharing. My heeler, Miley sleeps alone in the garage on a sleeping bag and the other day she pulled it over in front on the kitchen door so as to be closer to us. Awwwhh..I know.

What kind of dog is Deisel?

If you decided for your China Pet Bed, the next will be to consider what other petsupplies you will require. What do I need? These points will depend on your pet, cat, dog or rabbit, which have all, each its own requirements. The most important thing your pet's food supplies are, a pet is not very long without them. Once your meal there, then all the little things that we spoil our pets with, such as a collar, lead, pet beds and clothing, are selected.
