I Got Me Some Holes!

This is the sight I came home to this evening. Harley supervising the Husband on the tractor. Everyone knows the Husband needs supervision! And what were these two up to with the tractor? Well, it involves me getting a new puppy!!

The Husband told me I couldn't have a new puppy until we got a yard fence. So I made him move that to the top of his honey do list. He's started drilling the holes. But it is so dry, the ground is like cement! He had to get the water hose out and soak the ground just to get the auger to work!

He's had some issues though. Why do you suppose these instruments are in this hole?

Well, he hit the underground electric line that runs to the barn. Uh oh!

But he got it fixed up. Then I looked out the dining room window to see him standing there next to the tractor, auger in hole detached from it. He broke the pin. I told him to just come in and deal with it tomorrow but he insisted on fixing it. Well, an hour later, he came in the house. He didn't get it fixed. He broke his hammer and hacksaw trying to get the broke pin out. Not a happy camper! Good thing I stopped on the way home and got him some ice cream. I had a feeling he might need some dairy delight to lift his spirits.

Anytime more than a couple of things go wrong on one chore in one afternoon... ice cream heals a lot of aggravations.

New puppy coming?

When he's done with your fence, do you think he'd come put one up in my back yard?

Man your honey do list moves way faster than mine!

What kind puppy are we getting?

Well that just stinks. Sounds like something that would happen around here!

Thank you, Lord, that he wasn't toasted when he hit the electrical wire!!

ooooooh a puppy. Good thing the husband can fix stuff when he breaks it. Apparently you can't fix the fixing tools though. How does one break a hammer?

OMGosh!! What a time he was having!! What a good Hubby you got there! What kind of puppy are you getting??

Years ago when we lived in a bigger city, we had bought a brand new home which of course had no fence...So Hubby and his brother and the neighbor all decided that they would get this done (ours and the neighbors). Of course they didn't call and get anything marked so first they hit the phone line, and I'm not talking just our phone line...They hit the main cable that operated the whole neighborhood!! Everyone was without phone for 3 days!! It was a holiday weekend...Then they hit the gas line 3 different times. 1 time at my house and this twice at the neighbors! Which we had to have the gas company out for that one and they determined that whoever put the gas lines in the didn't bury them deep enough so that part wasn't our fault..But yeah all of that in 1 day...I'm pretty sure the whole neighborhood hated us LOL!!! Another perk to living in the country now!!

The pin might of broke but I tell you what nothing beats an auger when you want to get holes in the ground for fencing. I see he has a ball cap on to play farmer! Ice cream is a very good way to end a hot and nothing goes right day!

Ice cream is a bit of a cureall isnt it? Are you sure you don't have my dad down there? Sounds about like one of his days!

Glad to hear that you are getting a new puppy soon.

What is it with guys, mine spent over 5 hours trying to fix something in the bathroom sink, and do you think that he would give up. Heat and humidity like we have never seen. I should have thought about ice cream, I might have gotten him out sooner.

Your hubby is a dream. My 82 year old mom went out to her property to get some water on her bushes when the hose quit giving water she investigated (she's fixed the pump before..she's the mechanic in the family) and figured it probably was a break in the line four feet down so she went home and prayed all night (she does that alot)on how to fix it cheaply and came back the next day with my brother-in-law and pipes. Went to turn it on and the water flower on out! God and the universe has helped her more than once when it comes to her asking for help. She has proven that to me. Ask husband to say a few prayers over his broken auger, and the tools stuck and watch his luck change, but we already know someone was watching over him as he has you to bring him ice cream after a bad day! Cute story!

When we dug holes for the chicken coop, Mr. C used a post hole digger... that is HARD WORK!

What kind of puppy are you gonna get?

Everything is fixable with Ice Cream.

That is so funny cuz I was just thinkin you totally needed another dog. J/k. If I could have more puppies I would.

And may I add that is a pretty serious fence the Husband is building you. No T-posts fencing on you place.

Oh man!! We have commercials on the radio here that have this scary man's voice and weird creepy music that say, "Call before you DIG, IT'S THE LAW!" Creepy, I know. But your story reminded me of the creepy man's voice. And I had no idea you got a new puppy!! I have missed a lot since I went away.

I wish my honey would tackle his honey-do list with as much enthusiasm and determination as yours!

Sure glad he didn't get zapped by the electricity.

The thing with calling for the electric company to ID the lines is that they only ID the line(s) to the box...after that, it's not their responsibility...how stupid is that!! So, that's how we hit the line going to our barn when we dug the new well. We miscalculated the location...bummer...but ice cream can do wonders ;~)
