Black Bull Saga Continued

Yes, can you believe the bull is STILL out! I had made up my mind that if he was still outside the gate when I got home from the feed store on Saturday, I was gonna try to pen him. But of course, he was no where in sight upon my return. So dufus me, I thought maybe the idiot owner had actually got him. Oh nooo! When I went out Sunday morning to feed, I saw him along our fence line. I couldn't believe it. He's like an apparition. He's there one minute and gone the next. I never saw him the rest of Sunday. Then Monday, we were bull free.

This evening I was outside the barn playin' with Lil Man (aka Titan). I heard a commotion up towards the road. I look and see my neighbor from across the road (not the bull's owner)chasing that stupid bull with his gator. Then the bull takes a right turn into our drive. My dogs go nuts and take off down the drive. I just happen to be on the phone with the husband during all this. I didn't know what the heck was about to happen. I got off the phone and started hollerin' at the dogs. The neighbor got the bull turned about 1/4 way down the drive and pushed him back out to the road. All the dogs but Harley (my killer Yorkie) came back. He was on a mission to get that bull! I had to take off down the drive yellin' like a mad woman. He finally stopped. The neighbor continued to push the bull down the road. Where he was goin', I have no idea. He crossed him over the bridge and from there I don't know. A little bit later, he came back by without the bull in tow. I guess he wanted to share the pain in the butt bull with the other neighbors down the road! It just amazes me that I haven't seen the owner attempt to catch the bull since Friday.

I thought about callin' the sheriff but we live in the corner of three counties. So depending on which side of the road he's on, would be who would deal with him. I'm sure it would be a big mess. If I get the sucker caught, I'm takin' him to the sale barn and tellin' them to do whatever they do with strays. It's just ridiculous now.

I don't know about where you are but we had a neighbor whose cattle were out all the time .We called the Brand inspector and he has authority here to just pick up the animal and impound it if necessary also a bit of info the owner is Not only libel for damages here but if the animals cause a wreck on the road and in the unfortunate incidence of a death the OWNWER can be charged with manslaughter! Maybe if the owner was subject to the laws he would be more careful

What a huge pain in the ass. I know just how you feel--I occasionally have visitors too which is particularly bad at this time of year, when I am never home during the daylight. I just see evidence and wonder what in the hell went on here?

Hey - isn't possession 9/10ths of the law? Catch 'em and sell 'em!

Oh Wifey...here, it is open range...cattle owners don't have to be liable (unless they get on a state hiway)It falls upon the land owner...if you don't want them? fence them out.
I'd still be hauling his ba**s to the auction yard! Bet he's branded and they could figure it out from there!
(had to chuckle..so did Cowboy...as I was reading about Harley! Our first Yorkie was the same way! Thought he was tougher than our BC's and wouldn't listen as well as them! I went hoarse numerous times over chasing him!)

Lol, he is something else, isn't he? Amazing, lol, how they do that. Guessing the owner doesn't have appropriate fencing? What a pain in the butt.
That's crazy you live on the corner of 3 counties. That must make things interesting...

I say haul him to the sale!

Sale barn or T-Bone.....A t-bone would be nice right about now but the sale barn is still a good idea too.

I had a bull that was a jumper, he could break down any fence and would visit any young girls within smelling range even when he had his own ladies at home. You have to have the right fencing with one of them. We got rid of him..one too many times chasing after him..probably pissed us off more than the neighbors, tho. Just call the brand inspector, they'll get the fellow to fix the problem. $$$$

I feel really bad for you. Good grief!

Well since you live in Texas you can't call the brand inspector. Hauling him to the sell is the best option. That's what I like about NM you can call the brand in spector and they'll take over with the owner. Sucks though that he can't take care of the bull. Plus why have a bull if you don't have a trailer to haul him in?

I can't talk though, our neighbor rancher called us this morning and told us one of our bulls is on his place. We'll go round him up today or tomorrow morning. Gosh we're bad bull owners:(!
