Wordless Wednesday (a tad bit early)

My First Customer

I finally sold something on my photography website! I was so excited. The person bought a mouse pad. Imagine my surprise when I open my email regarding the buyer's information and it said the buyer was....

THE HUSBAND!

The little stinker. He was so upset that I found out it was him. He didn't know I would be getting the buyer's information. He had hid the confirmation email for the purchase never thinking that I would get an additional one. It was very sweet of him.

So today, my new mouse pad arrived. I have to say, I really like it!

Now I must sit the husband down and explain to him that he can't buy my stuff to make me feel better. Kinda defeats the profit theory I had goin'!

Sunday Stills-Black & White

The challenge this week was to choose two previous assignment topics and take B&W pics. But you could not use pictures you already submitted for those Sundays. Is that clear as mud?!

So, of course, I chose two related to animals. The first is for Animals of Husbandry. And I stayed true to the original assignment. I have two different animals in my picture.

The second one is for Pets. It's our neighbor's horse.

I didn't have a lot of time to throw these together. But I didn't want to miss another week so I scrambled to find something that would work.

New Breed Bull

We were in need of a new breed bull to put on our yearling heifers. Luckily, we have some great friends that just so happen to be great stock contractors. One of those friends let us borrow one of his bulls. He called last Saturday and said he was moving his stock around, wanted to see if we were ready to pick up the bull. You bet!

The husband went over and got him. On the way home, he called to tell me what he was bring back. Our friend said the bull wasn't very bad to handle and should work great for us.

When the husband pulled in, I went out to see what we got. Holy Moly! This bull was bashing the trailer and running back and forth. Not to bad to handle!! But I had to put it in perspective, the stock contractor that let us borrow the bull usually has very hot stock. So I guess bashing the side of the trailer and not busting the gate down, is considered not to bad to handle! We managed to get him unloaded and settled into a pen.

Notice the strip of hair missin' from his nose. He was like that before we got him. Guess he was bashin' other stuff besides our trailer!

He did NOT like me standing outside his pen. He would paw the ground and charge at me.

He didn't like having his picture taken either. Geez!

We let him settle for a day in the pen. Then turned him out with the heifers in the pasture. I'm not use to having something mean on the place. I can't just walk up to the heifers and feed them out of my hand now. At least I don't feel as comfortable doin' it now. I keep an eye on our bulls when I am out with them but they aren't usually gonna run me over just for the fun of it. So it will take some gettin' used to having him out there. I bet the husband I could have him eating out of my hand pretty soon though. We'll see.

What's That Smell?

Oh Lord! I'm not going to tell you what Miss Priss thinks it is....(I swear I don't know where she gets that from!)

But I finally figured it out. I know what that smell is....

The husband drew from all the names and pulled out one. And that one would be....

drum roll please.... (I'm doing it, but it's really pathetic...)

For The Ladies

The Husband said he wanted to make the ladies "swoon." Yes, that was his word.

Then he saw the picture and was upset. Why did I not show off all his "assets!" I told him y'all wouldn't be able to handle it! ;o)

Introducing Itty Bitty

We've been having calves pretty frequently these days. We don't have a massive amount of cattle due to our limited means and specific breeding program for bucking stock. So each baby is very special. But this new baby is more special than most.

She is cute as a bug! I think she's winkin' at me.

But the above pic doesn't really show her uniqueness. She if you can figure it out with this one.

No, it's not that she can pee in unison with another calf. How about here....

The spotted calf is about 2 weeks old and a foot taller!

She is so tiny! I think the other mommas are intrigued with her size too. I couldn't believe it when I saw her. She's about the size of Zena! But with a much bigger attitude. Don't know what we will do with her. Maybe breed her to a miniature bull for miniature rodeo stock. They actually do breed miniatures for youth rough stock. I just want to make her my little yard pet. Bet the husband will have something to say about that though!

A Bloggy Milestone

My blog's year anniversary is May 6th!


I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would have enjoyed this blog so much a year ago. It was started just to allow our family to stay in touch with us. I bought a camera to liven up the stories and who would have thought photography would become such a passion. Gizzards and Calf Fries is a constant part of our lives now.


Oh, and did I mention all the great people I have met throughout the WORLD thru this little sucker! Very amazing!

Am I Crazy??

I have finally done it. Yes, that's right, I have. After much debating and discussion with various people, I have decided to do it.



I'm really nervous.



I don't want to fail.



I think I may be crazy for even thinking it.



But there's no stoppin' me now.



At least for a year, since that's what length of time I have the domain name.

Oh, Lordy be, what have I gotten myself into!

I don't think my low self-esteem could take it!

I have decided to sell my pictures. I know, it's crazy right?! People can buy prints, notecards, make puzzles, mugs, whatever.

I've chewed all my fingernails off just setting up the store site!!

Invasion of the In-Laws

We had visitors from the North this past week. I must admit, when they said they were going to be staying at the house, I hyperventilated a little bit. I didn't know where we were going to put 7 extra people in my 1000 sq ft home. But I was assured by all that it didn't matter, they wouldn't care where they slept and all would be fine. Well, turns out, they were right.

We had a great visit with my FIL, SIL, BIL, two nephews, niece and one of the nephew's girlfriend. I think they enjoyed the ranch life as well. We took them to see our new babies....

And we went fishin' in the tanks...

And I colored my nephew's hair....(what's an aunt for, right?)

And helped my niece with her Texas homework project (must get picture of a buffalo). Well, hello, we have buffalo across the road from our house! Easy cheesy assignment Ms. Teacher Lady!

Fun was had by all. The last of the fam left yesterday evening. Back to runnin' around the house in our drawers!
